Kublai started his career when he made all the artworks both inside and outside of his family\u2019s hotel; Ponce Suites. His mother is the manager of the hotel. He studied at the University of the Philippines for his higher education and attained a degree in Fine Arts. After his graduation from college he returned to Mindanao, painting and sculpting subjects relating to the culture of his hometown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is responsible for two giant works: \u201cKampilan\u201d by Sultan Kudarat in the city of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao and the \u201cRisen Christ\u201d in the church of Tagum City. He is also responsible for the giant durian monument in Davao International Airport, the giant eagle and Bagobo children in People\u2019s Park, Davao City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ianbelleza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/117727979_3354409067957818_6413679498742528847_n.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ianbelleza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/117767644_594484837906368_8351542677834605912_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"766\" height=\"574\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ianbelleza.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/117951786_305690467548082_1119891019193843303_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"576\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What inspired you to become an artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve always been inclined to drawing even as a child. It\u2019s not an inspiration, it just is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are you currently working on?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Project-wise, many. I work on projects all at the same time. Real work? Myself. Exhibits are social events that\u2019s part of marketing your art and the self. It\u2019s the end. There\u2019s nothing there but the appreciation. It\u2019s the creation process that\u2019s of greater value to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is your process like?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nothing special. I think, I dream. Or I dream, I think. Depends on the project and the depth of the inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What was the most valuable thing you learned doing your art?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rootedness, identity. Rootedness and identity define the artist\u2019s soul. In them I see the depths of human love and the power of the Divine Creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is your favorite piece by another artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite is an artist, not his piece. Antonio Gaudi because his works assault all your senses and reflect a mind that challenges all conventions and his audience. His work is unapologetic and yet are products of unfathomable thoughts that are his alone but that he has committed his whole life to share to the world. They\u2019re not just random abstracts built to impress and in the process beautify the absence of depths.
