We are in the business of happiness. When our works make people happy, it smiles back at us. That connection is a bend like a smile. That is one of the main idea from our interview with Rey Mudjahid “Kublai” Ponce Millan, a prominent visual artist in Mindanao.
He said that he earns a point from the universe for every person who feels happy after seeing his works of art.
According to Kublai, deliberate happiness is one of the highest forms of happiness. Despite all the bad news that has been popping out of people’s Facebook news feeds, we still have to decide to rise above it and choose to be happy. He said, happiness isn’t just about fun and enjoyment. He said it is something deeper, something that comes straight out of our very core. Happiness is a choice, a decision that you work hard on. Kublai said he worked very hard in achieving that happiness.
There are nine choices that extremely happy people make every day, according to the book How We Choose To Be Happy by Rick Foster and Greg Hicks. The first choice is intention.
The book states, “The Intention to be happy is a mindset that propels us towards living as happily as we can, predisposing us to make each day as joyful and significant as it can be. It’s the point at which we stop responding unconsciously and actively decide we want to be happy. We make a promise to ourselves, a commitment to happiness that becomes our compass, guiding the decisions we make and the actions we take.”
